Fake it till you make it: sass & bide

In a perfect world we all wish we could afford the newest arrivals from sass & bide, amiright girls? However, in reality we are not all blessed with 6 figure salaries or an endless supply of the d.a.d.d.y fund. To combat this issue, its time we think about some cheaper alternatives (or at least find a sugar daddy) that can help you fake the s&b lookbook!
Splurge or Save?

Ohmgee, that's some heavy change you have jingling about in your pockets and the best news is you look fabulous, for so much less! These savvy saving alternatives are all Australian labels that have the advantage of currency conversion and international shipping.

And I know to those "Couture Queens" (which I myself am I of), the label is the thrill of an outfit, but sometimes isn't it just nice to know you don't have to sacrifice your savings for style? Proving that regardless of your budget, you can still always look a million dollars!

Crowned with Alannah Hill

One thing that I am missing about my long hair is the versatility it brought to my life; cute bow accessories, ribbons and lets not forget my "fail me not" hair donut. However, Alanah Hill's headwear has rekindled my creativity. Resembling something Blair Waldorf would crown herself with, these multi- textured exquisite pieces bring sophistication and femininity to an outfit. Since purchasing, No Ordinary Girl Headband (how fitting!), this little headpiece has not left my fair head and was recently accessorised with a nude and black number to The Jazz Club. Exactly what I needed to make a neutral outfit sparkle!
Get the look:
Headpiece: Alannah Hill / Dress: Sportsgirl / Blazer: Target / Earrings: Tiffany & Co.
Combing the website has just ignited my sudden craving for more headpieces. Here are my top five favourite from the online store, clicky clicky here!

Raining Tears Headband in Mauve

Denim, my casual BFF...

While others may swear by them as the go-to winter favourite, I have never been a jeans girl. They somehow always seem to shrink my already short pins. However, ASOS once again has stepped in and saved my wardrobe by introducing me to Sophie Skinny Hilfiger Denim. Combined with my recent purchases, I think I have created an effortlessly cool look to brisk the winter winds.

Jeans: Tommy Hilfiger / Knit: Vila / Faux Fur Vest: Redberry / Cuff: Adorne / Shoes: Joanne Mercer / Bag: Mimco

And now for some very exciting news...the Limecrime Giveaway has been drawn and I am so pleased to announce LadyWriter as the winner. Congratulations princess, and keep those peepers peeled for your posty!

The Lob

Well girls, what can I say, its not a recent trend but last week I was brave enough to cut off all my hair in favour of "The Lob". The long bob; a clean, blunt bob typically falling under the chin, has been popular amongst the celebrity world with Kate Bosworth, Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba sporting the sleek cut. Personally, I love it. It's simple, chic and projects a sophisticated aura.
Chop chop the celebrity locks!
All images sourced from various websites.
With my lob and my hair extensions, I now have the best of both worlds. I am the hair chameleon! By all means, let me know what you think my darling friends. Hate or rate the new style, leave a little comment!

Finally, only 3 days until my Limecrime Lipstick Giveaway is drawn and it is definitely not too late to enter! Best of luck girls!

Harper's Bazaar Bar & Style Workshop

Proving like Lindsay Lohan, sometimes all you need is an old-fashioned revamp, Westfield Carindale has emerged with quite a few new accessories to their fashion belt. What really excited me was a brand new Harper's Bazaar Bar featuring temporary seasonal trends and styling inspiration goodness. I was one of the lucky few that won a VIP pass to the opening last weekend, a competition hosted by non other than Fashion Society featuring a 10 minute style session with style savvy Sara Donaldson, blogger of Harper and Harley.

What does one wear to such an event you ask?
Jeans: Sass / Knit: Wane Cooper / Clutch: Louis Vuitton / Earrings: Sportsgirl
The event felt very Sex and The City as my guest and I were offered Champagne on arrival and directed to front row reserved seats. The blogger in me took this moment as an opportunity to photograph the stylings of the room.
"Waiter....Cosmopolitan please!"
While there was plenty of socialising and champagne sipping, we all walked away learning many invaluable tips from Sara Donaldson, as she talked through three of her favourite looks this season. Below is a condensed version of the style guide she presented, however I definitely recommend paying her blog, Harper and Harley a visit for her insatiable style.

Look One: Metallic
According to Sara:

Do:
Embrace the sequin, metal fabrics that are prominent this season
Apply a belt to less fitted pieces to create shape

Dont:

Clash different metallic fabrics, way too OTT!

Look 2: Print Clash
According to Sara:

Do:
Keep in within the same unified tone
Combine contrasting prints
Add bursts of colour with a bright accessory

Dont:
Apply two contrasting coloured prints, subtlety is the key

Look 3: Ladylike
According to Sara:

Do:
Think classic feminine cuts: full skirted, pencil, longer hemlines etc.
Revert back to neutral tones: whites, black and nudes.

Dont:
Flash the flesh, a conservative high collar is not only sophisticated, but sexy too.

Myself and Sara
Not only is she stylish, but she's beautiful inside and out! Sara was only happy to answer questions and from an amateur blogger like myself I had so much to gain from the successful stylist!

A big thank you goes to the girls from Fashion Society for providing me with such an amazing opportunity, girls next fashion event the cosmo's are on me! Fellow Brisbanites, check the official Fashion Society website for details on upcoming fashion events, competitions, photos and more.

I'm off to play with some patterned fabrics and try some print clashing of my own! Until then I love to hear from you all!

MODA Masquerade Party

For a suburb that is not recognised as a fashion hotspot, Brisbane certainly hosts some stella Fashion events. Last night I had the pleasure of attending MODA Creative's Masquerade Party, a celebration of their one year milestone. This event showcased the creative stylings of four Emerging Designers;  Mariann, Lafornara, Madeline Roberts, Dana Moore and Jacqueline Curran, which took place in Cloudland's top floor function room "The Rainbow Room"

Channelling a classic 50's inspired wardrobe brought out a feminine and flirtatious side in me, one that surprisingly attracted many compliments from fellow fashion enthusiasts.
And so Cinderella went to the ball....
Dress: Review / Shoes: Novo / Evening Bag: Adorne / Bracelet: Thomas Sabo

There's something so mysterious about masked beauty...

Mysterious? Yes, and handy also! Miranda and I amused ourself in-between shows with the silliness of photo booth...luckily our masks concealed our alter ego's. If photo booth didn't take the cake, then the sweet display provided by Couture Cupcakes certainly did!

In the presence of fabulous people, two girls met two new friends. Both fashion and tech savvy, our new friends enjoy blogging as much as I do!
Cheers to girlfriends, parties, fashion and mistaken identity.
All my love,
Barbie
